REVIEW: Boots 17 Mirror Shine On Lipstick in Hollywood

Bonjour!

Today I’ll be reviewing the Boots 17 Mirror Shine Lipstick in the colour Hollywood, my first ever red lipstick.

I did consider buying a Chanel or Dior red lipstick because I’m sure quality and durability will be a lot better, but I’m not a fan of bright colours on my lips, so instead of spending £20 on a lippie and risk not liking it, a £2.59 lipstick sounded more reasonable.

I love the packaging. It’s a metallic blue colour and it easily stands out from other lip products in my makeup bag, so it’s easy to find.

My first impression when I saw the colour of this lipstick was that this was going to be a proper red, however, after I swatched it on my hand, I was a bit disappointed to find that this is more like a dark pink and it’s not buildable to a full-on red, as I was expecting.

As you can see on my lips, the colour is very sheer, however, I have to admit I was happy with the texture. It’s quite moisturising and it made my lips feel really soft.

So, although I bought this product because I wanted a red lipstick, I’m sure I’ll get lots of use out of it because the colour is quite wearable. Do keep in mind that if you’re looking for a proper red lipstick, this is not a good choice and don’t be fooled by the the colour you see when you open the lid.

What do you guys think? Have you ever tried one of these 17 Mirror Shine On Lipsticks? Let me know on a comment below. :)

  • I love 17 Mirror Shine lipsticks. They’re more like a lip gloss than lipstick. I picked up a few the other week I wish I’d picked up Hollywood as well now. My fave one is Beehive. x

  • @Pyari Beauty They are great! Shame the colour is not quite true to what you see, but apart from that, I think they are really good for the price :)
