Ever since seeing the beautiful Amelia from Liana Beauty rave about this foundation over at her blog, I knew I had to have it. Her skin looked pretty immaculate, so that’s a good enough reason for me to want it. Make sure you visit Amelia’s blog; you’ll love it!
The Dior Diorskin Airflash Foundation is a spray foundation; the concept is simple, instead of fussing with a liquid foundation, and wasting time applying and blending a liquid foundation, you just spray this foundation on your face and you’re good to go. Sounds incredible, doesn’t it? So I went to a Dior counter and asked for a demonstration. The lady at the counter was very friendly and polite, and treated me to a full makeover!
She started by matching me to shade #300 Medium Beige, which was a pretty good match. To be honest, the shade range is not great. There are only 5 shades (Light Beige, Cameo, Medium Beige, Sand and Honey), so it’s worth getting yourself matched before buying it.
She then proceeded to prep me by putting some paper tissues around my top and holding my hair back, to make sure the foundation didn’t stain my clothes or went all over my hair. She also warned me to not apply this foundation against a white wall, just in case. Next, she held the can about 8 inches away from my face and sprayed a generous amount of foundation, to achieve a flawless coverage. After leaving it to dry for about 30 seconds she blended the excess with a brush. For a more natural coverage, she recommended spraying less product and leaving it to dry naturally.
The result was this: flawless complexion! My skin looks airbrushed and incredibly perfect; at closer inspection, you can definitely tell I’m wearing foundation, but from a normal distance, it just looks like I’ve got flawless skin. She did apply a lot more than normal, just to show me the amount of coverage I could get out of it, but on a daily basis I’d go for a lot less coverage.
This foundation is perfect for evening wear because it has no SPF in it (so no flash-back) and it’s long-lasting. I’d say this is a medium to high coverage foundation with a matte finish, but it still leaves the skin looking like skin. Dior claims it is suitable for all skin types; I’ve got normal/dry skin and it suits me very well without any flakiness.
Here’s a curious (and rather funny) situation for you guys; after having my makeover, I went home and grabbed my camera to take some photos. Whilst taking some snaps, I checked to see if they were coming out well, but they all looked blurred; How strange! So I went and uploaded them to my computer to investigate this most unusual problem, and I found out that the photos were fine. The thing is, my skin was so airbrushed that it looked as though it was blurred on all the photos! How about that?! :)
