It’s no secret that Boots & I have a very long and fruitful love affair; in fact, hardly a month (if not a week) goes by that I don’t pay a visit to my local Boots. For beauty-obsessed people like me, one of the best parts of living in the UK is that there’s a Boots in every corner for all my beauty cravings and emergencies – I rarely miss a brand new Rimmel launch! :) With Summer just around the corner, I thought I would share with you a few of the many offerings available in Boots that could come in handy during the much awaited season.
I’m not a huge fan of BB, CC, DD and the sorts, but I’ve been using the Nivea CC Cream for 2 weeks and I have thoroughly enjoyed it! It has SPF 15, wrinkle-reducing properties and a sheer tint that evens out the skin tone. Even though it only comes in one shade, when it’s fully blended you can’t really see it on your skin, so I believe this will suit light to medium-dark complexions.
I love how it makes my skin feel and look really smooth, reducing greatly the uneven skin tone on my cheeks. I feel like I can wear this on its own when my face is tanned, so it’s a really great base for Summer. The consistency is quite rich, so my dry skin greatly appreciates the extra moisture, but if you have oily or combination skin, you’re probably better off not applying makeup on top of it. Overall, a great find and worth a spot in my Summer makeup bag!
It’s very important to remember to protect your lips from the sun, but you don’t have to choose a boring clear balm; this lip balm from No 7 has SPF 15, it’s lovely and creamy, and it’s available in 7 shades from nude to berry! It gives the lips a sheer wash of colour, but noticeable enough. The colour I have is Blink Pink, which is a light pink, and I think it’s more flattering on light to light-medium cool skin tones. For my skin tone, the shade ‘Blush Pink’ looks like the perfect everyday colour!
I’m not gonna lie, but the thing that drew me to this mascara was the sparkly red packaging – it is so cool and I’m such a magpie! :) This mascara is volumising and super buildable; the little fibres grip the lashes nicely, leaving my lashes looking moderately volumised and well separated. It’s definitely not clumpy and it has very little smudging on application. Even though it’s not waterproof, you can still count on it to last well without flaking, but I would still like to have a waterproof version of this mascara for my pool-side beach bag.
I’ve had my eye on this lilac-pink nail varnish with a mixture of small and larger multi-coloured glitter for a really long time – that inner magpie strikes again! I can see myself wearing this on holiday with a pretty floral playsuit and sandals at the beach! You really can’t go wrong with glitter, and as the name suggests, this is a lovely girly shade!
This is a super lightweight primer that minimises pores and smooths the skin in preparation for foundation. It reminds me a lot of the Benefit The POREfessional Primer, even though the No 7 one has no tint and its formulation is a lot thinner. I only ever wear primer frequently during the Summer because it makes my makeup last longer, and sometimes, if I don’t fancy wearing makeup, I apply one layer of primer just to smooth out my skin and blur my imperfections. I know it’s early days, but I’m inclined to say that I already like this primer a little bit more than the Benefit one. Could we be witnessing the start of a new primer-reign? Quite possibly.
So these are a few of the Summer beauty items that you can find in Boots online and in-store right now. Head over to the Boots Summer Beauty page to see the full range. I’ve already placed an order for that gorgeous Soap & Glory Wonderbronze Shimmer Brick – so beautiful!
Are you excited for Summer? Let me know if you’d like to see a Summer Beauty haul because that’s just the motivation I need to go shopping again! :)
