When it comes to lipsticks, I cannot resist going into Boots and not grabbing a couple of new ones to try. The Rimmel Kate Lipsticks have been favourites of mine for a very long time and I’ve become a bit of a collector, so I always browse the Rimmel stand to see what new shades have been released that I still don’t have. During my last trip to Boots, I spotted the shade 08, which is very appealing to my taste, and this interesting Rimmel Kate clear balm that I had not seen or heard about it, so curiosity got the best of me.
The Rimmel Kate Lasting Finish Lipstick in shade 08 is a frosty warm pink lipstick with a lilac undertone. Funnily enough, I reviewed lipstick 08 years ago here, but they look nothing like one another in real life, so perhaps there’s a new collection with the same old numbers – very confusing indeed.
On the bullet it looks a lot more intense than what it comes out on my lips, but bear in mind that my lips are relatively pigmented, so the colour might look different on you if your lips are not pigmented at all. Also, the lilac undertone on the bullet comes out more coral on the lips, which I actually prefer because it’s more flattering on me.
The texture is quite creamy and not drying on the lips, which is a lovely surprise coming from a frosty lipstick. The sheen is subtle and helps to brighten my complexion, but the lasting power was a bit disappointing – within an hour I already had to reapply it. I’m not usually put off buying lipsticks if they are not long-lasting because I don’t mind reapplying, but I can see how some people could find this to be a deal-breaker.
Overall, I like this lipstick and it’s a welcome addition to my Rimmel Kate collection.
The Rimmel Kate Conditioning Lip Balm in 01 is a clear balm with SPF15 which feels cooling and creamy on the lips. As a regular lip balm, it works and it does the job of moisturising my lips, but it’s just an ok product with a lovely smell. It’s a bit pricey for what it is – I think we’re paying for the Kate Moss brand rather than a really great lip balm. Being from the High Street / Drugstore it’s not going to break the bank, but there are perfect good lip balms in the High Street for no more than a pound.
I’ve enjoyed using this lip balm and I’ve actually nearly finished it, but I won’t be repurchasing it, as I think it’s a bit overpriced for a simple lip balm.
