Today’s face of the day is my attempt to rock the red lipstick look.
I bought my first red lipstick a few days ago and was a bit disappointed that the red wasn’t as ‘true red’ as I’d expected. However, I was determined to make it work, so first, I put on a nude lipstick and then I applied the red lippie over it, and this was the result!
It looks a lot more ‘red’ than applying the red lipstick straight away onto my bare lips, and I’m really happy with the result. Makeup-wise, I kept it simple and neutral because I wanted the focus to be on the red lips.
I’m using everything from the 17 All About Nude Palette, MAC False Lashes Mascara and a bit of black eyeshadow and eyeliner on my bottom lashline. On the inner corner of my eyes I’ve got Virgin from Urban Decay’s Naked Palette and on my brow bone I’m using Benefit High Beam.
My tip for a successful look involving red lips is, don’t let the rest of your makeup distract from your lips. Keep it simple and monochromatic, and let the lips speak for themselves!
I’d love to hear what you think of my adventures with a red lipstick! Please leave a comment below :)
