REVIEW: Soap and Glory Lid Stuff Eyeshadow Quad (with swatches)

1 December 2011

Soap & Glory has been in the market for many years now, and some of their products, such as the Righteous Butter, Hand Food and Scrub Your Nose In It, are things I cannot live without. They have recently branched into the Cosmetics world, and I’m about to review my favourite product of the entire collection.

The Looks

Soap & Glory Lid Stuff in ‘What’s Nude’ (£10) – Boots

This is the Soap & Glory Lid Stuff in ‘What’s Nude’, an eyeshadow quad that retails for £10. Now, if you’re like me, you’re thinking, ‘What? £10 for drugstore a eyeshadow quad? No way!’. But I’m about to tell why I think this quad is worth every penny.

First of all, the packaging follows the traditional Soap & Glory style with the 1950s look and the clever names, which I really like. However, I don’t really like the clear plastic case the quad comes in; I think it looks cheap, and it feels as if it’s going to break easily.

The Contents

The pigmentation is surreal! I’d definitely compare it to something like MAC eyeshadows (pigmentation-wise), which you pay £11.50 for each shadow, so you’re definitely getting a good bargain paying £10 for this quad! The one thing I don’t like is that some of the eyeshadows can be a bit chalky, especially the two lighter ones.

The Photos

My favourite shadow is the brown metallic one. It looks gorgeous on its own, and even better with the dark brown matte one on the crease. I’ve put a photo of me wearing all these eyeshadows so you can have an idea of what it looks like on the eyes; sorry I didn’t have a photo with my eyes closed! :(

Overall, I’d recommend buying this is you want a cheap alternative to MAC eyeshadows, or just a simple neutral palette to carry around in your handbag.

The Verdict

I give this an 8/10. It’s a affordable, good quality and practical. The packaging could have been a bit more expensive looking and some eyeshadows could do with being less chalky, but it’s perfect for everyday use and I would definitely repurchase it!

Soap & Glory Lid Stuff in ‘What’s Nude’ is available now from Boots for £10. You can also get the quad in the colours ‘Smokey Dokey’ or ‘Off the Wallflowers’. (link here)

If they used different packaging it would probably be a lot more expensive i think the packaging is definately ok and at S&G there all about affordability as a student if the price was higher i couldnt afford my favorite items

I agree that Soap & Glory has the attractive of being affordable, but most of their products have outstanding packaging and are quite affordable. Apart from the packaging, the palette is amazing quality! :) x

Snow day!! ☃️ We have two very excited childre Snow day!! ☃️ We have two very excited children and a puppy, ready some snow fun today! Might as well make the most of it, because this is probably all we’re going to get. Oh I do love snow! 😍❄️
“Anxiety is also feeling like you have no contro “Anxiety is also feeling like you have no control over your life and there’s a knot if your stomach. You feel like your world is crashing down around you and you’re expected to sit there and act like you’re fine.”

Yesterday was a right old day - I wasn’t myself. I needed silence to reset... but didn’t get it. So I carried on not sounding like myself, being curt, snappy, sometimes a bit hurtful.

Do you know when you just can’t snap out of it? You take a deep breath and promise you will react differently to a stressful situation, but a minute later you catch yourself spilling over before you even realise the pan was boiling.

I took some time to reflect in the evening and exposed everything that was causing me frustration, stress, anxiety and worry. Guess what the common denominator was?

A feeling of not being in control.

I’ve always needed some sort of order and control to feel like myself and right now we’re positivity not in control of anything really, are we?

I’m glad I can recognise the triggers for my anxiety and today I made sure I established some form of control first thing in the morning to give my day the best chance to be a good one.

So I cleaned the house, I made sure the puppy had plenty of naps, I scheduled 1-2-1 time with both kids and that made me feel so much better.

I know I only tackled the consequences, not the causes of my anxiety and my need to feel in control, but that was enough for me today.

There’s - always - more work to be done, but accepting the small wins is part of it.

How are you all feeling? Really, how’s your mind How are you all feeling? Really, how’s your mind right now? It’s so important to check in with ourselves instead of ignoring how we feel and burying our heads in housework, jobs, kids and life admin.

💫 What do I need?

That’s a good way to start. I’ll list a few things I need right now. They don’t all have to be grand things, sometimes I only need the smallest things.

1. I need to wash my hair.
2. I need silence.
3. I need to rearrange some rooms in the house (don’t know why I need this, but I really do).
4. I need to zero my inbox.
5. I need uninterrupted sleep.
6. I need a good hearty meal.
7. I need to exercise.
8. I need to smile.
9. I need to see my mum.
10. I need to put my needs first.

If I were to pick just one need right this second, I’d say number 2. I’m normally really sensitive to loud noises, but today... dear me! Even a slightly louder whisper was annoying me! 🙈
I mean... I can barely see him but I’m well jeal I mean... I can barely see him but I’m well jealous of this cosy situation! 😍 Oh Benji boy, you’re bringing us so much joy already! 🐶🤎

Trust the process ✨ I chose this phrase to repre Trust the process ✨ I chose this phrase to represent 2021 for me and it couldn’t be more fitting.

Every time I find myself thinking things won’t work out before even giving it a chance, I repeat to myself “trust the process”. It gives me the strength I need to keep going and just like that... things do work out. Always.

This lockdown has been so much harder than the first one for me. How have you found it?

I thought it was going to be the same or easier than the first time because we’d done it before, but it’s actually been so much more testing.

The only way I’m getting through it is by 💫 trusting the process 💫
