Rimmel London has some great lipsticks out in the high street (drugstores), and the Colour Show Off collection did not disappoint. After the succes of the Kate Lasting Finish collection, I was excited to get my hands on the Colour Show Off lipsticks and review them for you guys!
The packaging is a selling point in itself for me! Whilst the Kate Lasting Finish collection had a pretty standard packaging, the Colour Show Off collection looks much more attractive and girlie. The pink tube, with the Rimmel crown at the top and the lovely spiral detailing, is super cute. Also, Rimmel has upped their game by giving actual names (not just numbers) to the shades!
I chose shades Pink Excess (010) and Pink Gossip (110). All the lipsticks in this collection have vibrant colours with a velvety finish. The pigmentation is superb, but I found them to be extremely drying on the lips. Bear in mind that my lips have been particularly dry and chapped as the weather is changing in Britain at the moment, but even so, these are not the most moisturising lippies I’ve ever used.
Pink Excess (010) is a mid-tone pink with a bit of shimmer. It is slightly darker than what I expected. Under natural light you can see a hint of pink, but under artificial light it looked almost like a plum-pink colour on my lips. It kind of reminds me of a darker version of YSL Rouge Volupté in Spicy Pink.
Pink Gossip (110) is my favourite lipstick of the Colour Show Off collection. It’s a cool bright pink colour, but not in a tacky way. I struggle to find a good bright pink lipstick in the high street, as they tend to look ‘cheap’ on the lips, but this one is spot on! I’ve been loving this lipstick for an evening smokey eye look, as it brightens up the face and adds an element of fun to the look. If you want to see how I created a look with this lippie click here.
Overall, I’m impressed with the Rimmel Colour Show Off collection and I’m definitely buying more from this collection. I’ve heard that other lippies from this collection have a much creamier formulation, so I’ll have to see for myself.
