Celebrity style: Headbands

15 May 2012

How To Wear Headband Celebrity Inspired

After the overwhelmingly positive feedback I had on my ‘Beachy Waves Tutorial’ I thought I’d do another hairstyle post for you guys, which is also perfect for Summer :) This time, I bring to you my three favourite ways of wearing a headband inspired by the looks of celebrities. To me, the person that put headbands on the fashion scene again was Blair Waldorf, the character played by the gorgeous Leighton Meester on ‘Gossip Girl’, so let’s start with her, shall we?

Blair Waldorf is the queen of the headbands. She wears from the most simple and demure, to the most intricate and exquisite headbands, but she always tends to go for the romantic well-behaved girly look.

Nicole Richie is often associated with a bohemian-chic style. Her gorgeous locks vary from short, long, wavy or poker straight, but no matter the style, she can rock a headband like no one else!

Ashley Olsen is another impersonation of the boho-chic style, with a bit more of a hippie twist. She walks hand-in-hand with headbands of all kinds and sizes (particularly large ones!). Any look inspired by her has to appear effortless and relaxed.

So what do you think of my favourite ways of wearing a headband inspired by these celebs? What other celebs are you inspired by when creating a look with a headband? :)

Au revoir!

The Olsen style looks so pretty with your waves! I love that hairband! May I ask where you bought it?

“Anxiety is also feeling like you have no contro “Anxiety is also feeling like you have no control over your life and there’s a knot if your stomach. You feel like your world is crashing down around you and you’re expected to sit there and act like you’re fine.”

Yesterday was a right old day - I wasn’t myself. I needed silence to reset... but didn’t get it. So I carried on not sounding like myself, being curt, snappy, sometimes a bit hurtful.

Do you know when you just can’t snap out of it? You take a deep breath and promise you will react differently to a stressful situation, but a minute later you catch yourself spilling over before you even realise the pan was boiling.

I took some time to reflect in the evening and exposed everything that was causing me frustration, stress, anxiety and worry. Guess what the common denominator was?

A feeling of not being in control.

I’ve always needed some sort of order and control to feel like myself and right now we’re positivity not in control of anything really, are we?

I’m glad I can recognise the triggers for my anxiety and today I made sure I established some form of control first thing in the morning to give my day the best chance to be a good one.

So I cleaned the house, I made sure the puppy had plenty of naps, I scheduled 1-2-1 time with both kids and that made me feel so much better.

I know I only tackled the consequences, not the causes of my anxiety and my need to feel in control, but that was enough for me today.

There’s - always - more work to be done, but accepting the small wins is part of it.

How are you all feeling? Really, how’s your mind How are you all feeling? Really, how’s your mind right now? It’s so important to check in with ourselves instead of ignoring how we feel and burying our heads in housework, jobs, kids and life admin.

💫 What do I need?

That’s a good way to start. I’ll list a few things I need right now. They don’t all have to be grand things, sometimes I only need the smallest things.

1. I need to wash my hair.
2. I need silence.
3. I need to rearrange some rooms in the house (don’t know why I need this, but I really do).
4. I need to zero my inbox.
5. I need uninterrupted sleep.
6. I need a good hearty meal.
7. I need to exercise.
8. I need to smile.
9. I need to see my mum.
10. I need to put my needs first.

If I were to pick just one need right this second, I’d say number 2. I’m normally really sensitive to loud noises, but today... dear me! Even a slightly louder whisper was annoying me! 🙈
I mean... I can barely see him but I’m well jeal I mean... I can barely see him but I’m well jealous of this cosy situation! 😍 Oh Benji boy, you’re bringing us so much joy already! 🐶🤎

Trust the process ✨ I chose this phrase to repre Trust the process ✨ I chose this phrase to represent 2021 for me and it couldn’t be more fitting.

Every time I find myself thinking things won’t work out before even giving it a chance, I repeat to myself “trust the process”. It gives me the strength I need to keep going and just like that... things do work out. Always.

This lockdown has been so much harder than the first one for me. How have you found it?

I thought it was going to be the same or easier than the first time because we’d done it before, but it’s actually been so much more testing.

The only way I’m getting through it is by 💫 trusting the process 💫
Pretty much where we’ve spent the last 2 days! 🐾🐶 Benji is settling in brilliantly and I’m so proud of the kids for showing him a lot of love and affection... and of course, plenty of playfulness! 🥰 Now we need to work on his nipping - those puppy teeth are sharp and it seems little kiddies’ wiggly toes are irresistible! Any tips? 🤎
