Marc Jacobs Lola Eau de Parfum (100ml)*, £63 || Fragrance Direct
I don’t have many favourite perfumes; in fact, I can list them all in one hand: Chanel No 5, YSL Manifesto, Dior Hypnotic Poison, Dolce Gabanna Light Blue and Dior J’adore. I’m very loyal when it comes to fragrances and my taste is quite particular; I like strong scents, a bit musky, a bit sexy and ever so slightly floral. All of the ones above tick those boxes, apart from Dolce Gabanna Light Blue, which is a much fresher smell and therefore, it’s mostly my daytime fragrance.
When Fragrance Direct got in touch with me and offered to kindly send me a perfume, I was instantly drawn to the bottle of Marc Jacobs Lola; I always like Marc Jacobs perfume bottles, but I haven’t smelled many of them, so I just never bothered. When I looked up the notes of ‘Lola’, I immediately knew it would contend with the top 5 perfumes I mentioned before; pink peppercorn, rose, vanilla and musk are some of them, which makes Lola a warm floral fragrance with a sexy kick to it.
It’s described as ‘sexy with a fun flirtatious wink’ and I totally agree. The cap was designed by Marc Jacobs as an over the top and lavish floral bouquet exploding from the bottle; it expresses what ‘Lola’ is all about – tempting, fun, flirty and sexy. Lola starts off quite strong and it softens throughout the day, but I find that the scent doesn’t last as long as some of my other favourite perfumes.
This perfume is right up my street! It’s definitely a more mature and strong fragrance, so if you’re into soft and sweet fragrances, I’d give this one a miss. But, if you like more musky and spicy perfumes or if you just want that cute little bottle sitting pretty on your dressing table, this is definitely worth a sniff! Thanks to Lola, I now have a handful of favourite perfumes, plus 1.
Have you tried Lola? Is it one of your favourites or just not for you?
