RIMMEL KATE LASTING FINISH MATTE LIPSTICK IN #107

Remember when I asked for your help finding the perfect Charlotte Grayson red lipstick? I found it! :) Thank you for all your recommendations; so many red lippies that I didn’t even know existed! You may have caught a glimpse of the lipstick I chose on my November Favourites, but in case you didn’t, it’s the Rimmel Kate Lasting Finish Matte Lipstick in #107.
#107 is a matte deep red berry colour with a velvet finish. It’s the ‘mattest’ (new word alert!) lipstick I’ve ever tried and it dries on the lips pretty much straight away, which is very handy when wearing a dark lipstick as you don’t have to worry about it smudging all over the place!
The application is not the easiest; this lipstick is very unforgiving because it dries so quickly, so if you make a little mistake, make sure to wipe it off immediately with a cotton bud or a makeup remover wipe. I used my Detailer Brush from Real Techniques to draw the shape and fill in the edges of my lips, then I used the lipstick from the bullet to intensify the colour.
The colour is so intense and the velvety finish is stunning! I seem to be a bit obsessed with velvet finishes for lipsticks, and I’m gutted I can’t find the Topshop Velvet Lip in Velveteen Ribbon anywhere to buy here in the UK because it looks divine! I love that even though this lipstick is highly pigmented and long-lasting, it didn’t stain my lips and it was easily removed; brownie points for you, Rimmel!
For a Christmas party look you can pair this lipstick with something as simple as a cat flick, or you can do something more festive like I did, and go for soft burgundy and purple tones on the eyes. I’m working on a tutorial for this look, so keep your eyes peeled for that! I might carry on this little series if I find more great lipsticks to go with Christmassy makeup looks, or you could suggest a lipstick that you want to see how I create a makeup look to go with it, what do you think?
