28 Weeks Pregnancy Diary & Vlog

28 Weeks Pregnant Diary and Vlog

28 weeks pregnant, 12 weeks to go – hooray! My 28 Weeks Pregnancy Diary will be quite short and sweet; this week has been a much more positive, happier and quieter week for me, so there’s not much to update, but I wanted to share my thoughts and feelings during a happy week, as I feel like all I’ve done so far is moan about my rubbish symptoms! In case you’re interested, on the picture above I’m wearing a Primark Vest and my favourite H&M Maternity Jeans.

PREGNANCY VLOG

[youtube=http://youtu.be/icbSk1rviv0&w=800]

On this week’s vlog I talk a bit about how I managed to reduce my acid reflux and heartburn by changing my diet, and also about loosing weight because of it. I also talk about feeling very anxious about the proximity of my labour and how much happier I’ve felt throughout this week. Of course, there’s a cheeky little bump shot at the end, so if you fancy watching this video, click the play button or if you can’t see the video above, click here to watch it on YouTube.

PREGNANCY DIARY

How far along? 28 weeks :)

Total weight gain: About 10lbs/ 0.7st/ 4.7kg, and I know this needs a bit of explaining if you read my 26 & 27 weeks update. To start, I realised I was tracking my weight based on the wrong figures; my starting weight was 51kg and my current weight is 55.7kg, which takes me to a 4.7kg total weight gain. Last week I weighed 56.4kg, so I lost 0.7kg this week, which I’m not too worried about, as I know it has everything to do with changes I’ve made to my diet to help my heartburn and acid reflux. I’m basically eating healthier versions of the things I used to eat, and I’ve cut most fried and fatty foods on a daily basis. I’ve also cut down on dairy and reduced my meal sizes even more, so I now eat lots of smaller meals, but I spread them throughout the day. I’m very happy with this change, as it means I’ve felt a lot better and my baby is getting more nutritious food!

Maternity clothes? None this week. I have no shame in admitting that my husband’s boxer pants make for the perfect pyjamas at nighttime – I’m not sure he likes sharing them, but they are just so stretchy and loose! :)

Stretch marks? Only the little red mark that appeared under my left breast last week, which I still don’t know if it is a stretch mark or not, but it certainly looks like one.

Sleep: Much better, compared to last week! A pillow under my back and another one under my bump and suddenly I feel incredibly comfortable (all things considered!). I still wake up every time I need to swap from one side to the other, but I fall straight back asleep!

Best moment this week: All the baby shopping that we got done! It’s like Christmas all over again with car seats, pushchairs, baby monitors, nappy bins all around the house. We also started moving some furniture out of our office room to turn it into baby’s nursery, and that has made me really happy :)

Miss anything? Anything I could do without a big bump that I now I can’t anymore, such as wash the dishes without getting water all over my clothes, shaving my legs and sitting indian-style, with legs crossed up. So cumbersome!

Movement: He started doing these big movements now, where with a single kick he manages to move my hand out of the way. It’s quite amazing to see someone so small show so much personality already through his movements! He used to kick whenever my husband touched my belly, but now he does the opposite and stops moving; it’s like he feels the ‘heavier‘ hand is there to tell him off for kicking mummy really hard! :)

Food cravings: Yes! A Brazilian dessert and party food called ‘brigadeiro‘; they are chocolate balls with a caramel texture, made with chocolate powder, condensed milk and butter. So bad, but soooo good! The last time I craved them was when I first suspected I was pregnant, and that was why I had a feeling something was going on, as I never craved sweets before pregnancy.

Anything making you queasy or sick: Not really; I’ve avoided having anything around the house that triggers my nausea, so it’s all good.

Gender: A baby boy! :)

Labour signs: No.

Symptoms: Almost no nausea, less acid reflux and heartburn and the bladder incontinence is back – fun times! I wake up in the middle of the night or early in the morning feeling absolutely starved, even though I had a normal meal the night before. I’m not breaking out anymore, but the scars are still taking a long time to fade. Lower back pain from any kind of mild activity and leg cramps!

Belly button in or out? In between; it’s kind of out, but not quite fully yet!

Wedding rings on or off? Off!

Happy or moody most of the time: Happy! Tons of energy and positive feelings; it’s been a great week!

Looking forward to: Getting more things done for the nursery and possibly having the in-laws around over the weekend :)

See you next week! :)

Snow day!! ☃️ We have two very excited childre Snow day!! ☃️ We have two very excited children and a puppy, ready some snow fun today! Might as well make the most of it, because this is probably all we’re going to get. Oh I do love snow! 😍❄️
“Anxiety is also feeling like you have no contro “Anxiety is also feeling like you have no control over your life and there’s a knot if your stomach. You feel like your world is crashing down around you and you’re expected to sit there and act like you’re fine.”

Yesterday was a right old day - I wasn’t myself. I needed silence to reset... but didn’t get it. So I carried on not sounding like myself, being curt, snappy, sometimes a bit hurtful.

Do you know when you just can’t snap out of it? You take a deep breath and promise you will react differently to a stressful situation, but a minute later you catch yourself spilling over before you even realise the pan was boiling.

I took some time to reflect in the evening and exposed everything that was causing me frustration, stress, anxiety and worry. Guess what the common denominator was?

A feeling of not being in control.

I’ve always needed some sort of order and control to feel like myself and right now we’re positivity not in control of anything really, are we?

I’m glad I can recognise the triggers for my anxiety and today I made sure I established some form of control first thing in the morning to give my day the best chance to be a good one.

So I cleaned the house, I made sure the puppy had plenty of naps, I scheduled 1-2-1 time with both kids and that made me feel so much better.

I know I only tackled the consequences, not the causes of my anxiety and my need to feel in control, but that was enough for me today.

There’s - always - more work to be done, but accepting the small wins is part of it.

How are you all feeling? Really, how’s your mind How are you all feeling? Really, how’s your mind right now? It’s so important to check in with ourselves instead of ignoring how we feel and burying our heads in housework, jobs, kids and life admin.

💫 What do I need?

That’s a good way to start. I’ll list a few things I need right now. They don’t all have to be grand things, sometimes I only need the smallest things.

1. I need to wash my hair.
2. I need silence.
3. I need to rearrange some rooms in the house (don’t know why I need this, but I really do).
4. I need to zero my inbox.
5. I need uninterrupted sleep.
6. I need a good hearty meal.
7. I need to exercise.
8. I need to smile.
9. I need to see my mum.
10. I need to put my needs first.

If I were to pick just one need right this second, I’d say number 2. I’m normally really sensitive to loud noises, but today... dear me! Even a slightly louder whisper was annoying me! 🙈
I mean... I can barely see him but I’m well jeal I mean... I can barely see him but I’m well jealous of this cosy situation! 😍 Oh Benji boy, you’re bringing us so much joy already! 🐶🤎

Trust the process ✨ I chose this phrase to repre Trust the process ✨ I chose this phrase to represent 2021 for me and it couldn’t be more fitting.

Every time I find myself thinking things won’t work out before even giving it a chance, I repeat to myself “trust the process”. It gives me the strength I need to keep going and just like that... things do work out. Always.

This lockdown has been so much harder than the first one for me. How have you found it?

I thought it was going to be the same or easier than the first time because we’d done it before, but it’s actually been so much more testing.

The only way I’m getting through it is by 💫 trusting the process 💫
