The newest addition to the Bobbi Brown family is the new Bobbi Brown Intensive Skin Serum Corrector and Concealer, which work side by side with the recently launched Intensive Skin Serum Foundation. The premise of the Intensive Skin Serum (ISS) formula is simple; it’s a makeup and skincare hybrid, combining the benefits of a serum and the coverage provided by makeup.
The ISS Corrector and Concealer aim to cover and treat dark circles instantly and over time. As a new mummy, it’s been a very long time since I had a good night’s sleep, so I was very excited to try these products to see if they would help improve the appearance of my under eye dark circles. Keep reading to see the results!
- Skincare & makeup hybrid
- Long-lasting skin benefits with prolonged use
- Medium coverage
- Suitable for all skin types
- 16 ISS Corrector shades and 15 ISS Concealer shades
The Bobbi Brown Intensive Skin Serum Corrector and Concealer are makeup & skincare hybrid products, which cover and conceal dark circles. The main difference between the two is that the Corrector neutralises discolouration and the Concealer brightens the skin tone. What makes these products so special is the combination of skincare ingredients with makeup pigments to target some of the biggest causes of dark circles.
On the Get Ready With Me video above you can see what the Corrector and Concealer look like from clean skin to the final makeup look. It’s really amazing to see the difference they make when compared to the un-made under eye! You can also see how the ISS Concealer and Corrector work with the ISS Foundation and a few other Bobbi Brown products, including the new limited edition Greige Eye Shadow Palette, Coral Brightening Brick and Dusty Pink Art Stick. TEXTURE & FINISH
The ISS products have a smooth texture that sets quickly to a dry matte finish, but they don’t feel drying on the skin, so they are perfect for the under-eye area. I also found the ISS Concealer to be very effective on some pigmentation spots I have on the top of my cheekbones. If you find that your makeup tends to crease under the eyes, I recommend applying a mattifying translucent powder to set the ISS Corrector and Concealer, as creamy products can move about throughout the day, especially on hot days.
Both the ISS corrector and ISS concealer gave me medium skin-like natural coverage, which is exactly what I need for my under-eye area and pigmentation spots. As you can see on the pictures, the Corrector cancelled out my dark circles, the redness and lifted the overall tired appearance of my eyes, without looking cakey or un-natural. The Concealer helped to fully hide my dark circles and also brightened my under eyes and the top of my cheekbones, where I had some pigmentation spots. I was very impressed with the fact that both products, independently or together, didn’t make my skin look plastered with makeup; everything looks quite natural to the naked eye and on camera.
The ISS Corrector and Concealer have a creamy consistency that is neither too fluid nor too thick. The ISS formula is a hybrid between skincare and makeup, and when applied regularly, it continues to benefit the skin over time, making the under eye skin look smooth, healthy, plump and less tired. It’s suitable for all skin types and it addresses the following causes of dark circles:
- Age: The Indian Mukul Myrrh Tree Extract ingredient increases natural collagen production and plumps the skin under the eye.
- Excess Pigmentation: Bamboo Grass Extract helps to increase radiance and even out the skin tone.
- Irritation: Skin is re-energised with the help of Cordyceps Mushroom, which enhances the skin’s natural ability to prevent collagen degradation and moisture loss.
The Bobbi Brown Intensive Skin Serum Corrector and Concealer both have a doe-foot applicator, which I find very convenient for a quick and mess-free application. The products worked really well when applied with my finger and also with the Bobbi Brown Full Coverage Face & Touch Up Brush, which is a brand new brush designed to work together with the ISS Corrector, Concealer and Foundation.
There are 16 Corrector shades and 15 Concealer shades, which cater to wide spectrum of skin tones, including very light and very dark skin; the Corrector shades come in ‘Bisque’ for blue or purple discolouration and ‘Peach’ for brown or grey discolouration, whilst the Concealer come in Neutral, Warm and Cool undertones. My ISS Corrector shade is Peach Bisque and my ISS Concealer shades are ‘Sand’ for the under-eye area and ‘Beige’ for the blemishes all over the face. These shades are a great match for my medium olive with neutral undertones skin tone!
- Corrector shades: Porcelain Bisque; Porcelain Peach; Extra Light Bisque; Light Bisque; Light Peach; Light to Medium Bisque; Light to Medium Peach; Bisque; Peach; Medium to Dark Bisque; Dark Bisque; Dark Peach; Deep Bisque; Deep Peach; Very Deep Bisque; Peach Bisque.
- Concealer shades: Porcelain; Ivory; Warm Ivory; Cool Sand; Sand; Beige; Warm Beige; Natural; Warm Natural; Natural Tan; Honey; Warm Honey; Golden; Almond; Chestnut.
LASTING POWER ON DRY SKIN
The Concealer and Corrector lasted very well with very minimal creasing at the end of a full 8-hour day. My under eyes remained looking nourished and radiant, despite my skin being very dry and having a tendency to look flaky within a few hours of applying makeup. After about 5 hours, a quick top up with a translucent powder took care of making my under eye area look flawless until the end of an incredibly busy day looking after a 4 month-old baby.
I am very pleased with how the Bobbi Brown Intensive Skin Serum Corrector and Concealer made my under eye area look brighter, even and well-rested, despite the fact I haven’t slept more than 3 hours straight since giving birth 4 months ago! Moreover, I’m so impressed with how the whole ISS range worked well together, and I highly recommend getting the ISS Concealer, Corrector, Foundation and Full Coverage & Touch Up Brush if you’re looking for base products that treat & concealer dark circles and look natural, whilst giving plenty of coverage.
