ad Can you tell they are excited about their new @flikflak watches? 😁 Fun fact: back in the 90s, there was a girl in my school who had a Flik Flak watch (Swatch watches were very expensive to buy in Brazil!) and I always wished I had one just like hers. Almost 30 years later, my children have them! 🥰

💕 There’s just something about babies in festive outfits, isn’t there? Swipe for more! 😍❤️

Olivia is now 17 weeks old (10+ weeks corrected)! 🙌🏻

✨ She weighs 10lbs 5oz and is wearing 0-3 months clothes;

✨ She can (only just) grab hanging toys and loves her toy fox;

✨ She has rolled over from tummy to back twice!

✨ She’s making lots of cooing noises, a bit of babbling and blowing bubbles. I think I even heard a proper giggle the other day!

✨As the youngest of 3, she’s constantly stimulated and loves nothing more than being part of everything.

✨ She’s started showing a few preferences, like having the lights off to nap late afternoon, or not wanting me to talk to other people when I’m feeding her and responding more when I speak in Portuguese to her!

✨ She’s been mostly cluster feeding in the day, but still only wakes twice (3 times max!) at night;

✨ We’re loving breastfeeding, but some days I do feel like I could do with a bit of a break!

❓Which leads me to pumping advice! I’ve used up all of my freezer stash from the Nicu days (school runs & after school clubs!), so I’m trying to build a small stash that I can keep topping up as needed. Any advice on regular pumping whilst EBF? I just can’t seem to fit it in! I have a @haakaa_ukandireland pump, an @elvie pump and an @ardobreastpump. I used to get loads when I was pumping regularly, but now I can barely get 30ml, unless I’m pumping a missed feed. Any advice or tips? TIA 🥰

Some happy snaps from putting up the Christmas tree! ✨ Now for the REAL talk…

Does anyone else find it incredibly stressful to decorate for Christmas with kids?

In my head, it looks so much fun; everyone is having a good time, giggles and glitter fill the air, the grown ups are having a warm glass of mulled wine, the kids a cup of hot chocolate and dancing to Holly Jolly Christmas…

But in ✨reality✨ the hot chocolate gets spilt on the carpet, the mulled wine is cold by the time we get to drink it, precious decorations are found smashed in a corner, the baby is crying and I find myself blurting out things like “no, that’s too many in one branch” and “just leave it, I’ll sort it later” in a not so holly jolly Christmas tone.

Every year I think it (meaning I) will be more chilled, but when November rolls around, I find my stress levels rising higher and higher. The more festive we get, the more I think “why are we doing this?”.

But I know the answer to that question; we do it for the ✨MEMORIES✨. They won’t remember that I rearranged the Christmas decorations at night, or that I cursed our choice of impractical (but cute) matching pjs. They won’t remember that the tangled fairy lights made “mummy’s lava bubble up”…

✨ They WILL remember how much fun it was to put up the tree and choose between star or angel for the top of the tree!

So every year I’ll keep holding on to the idea of decorating for Christmas as it is in my head, but will brace myself for the inevitable grunts under my mulled wine breath as I find twelve baubles crammed in a single tree branch! 🎄🤣

Your firsts are my lasts 💔✨ It suddenly hit me today…

Your first smile, first bath, first time you moved up a size in clothes and first time you slept through the night. Your first feed, first time you were poorly, first poop explosion, first outing, first time you roll over, crawl, walk, first day of school… the list goes on.

Some of these milestones have come and gone already. They are memories and stories to tell.

I’m so glad I got to do this again with you, Olivia!

🤱🏻 I’ve never been the most confident brea

🤱🏻 I’ve never been the most confident breastfeeder.

It always hurts for me.

I get too hot.

I feel self conscious feeding in front of other people, including friends and extended family.

I constantly worry my baby is not getting enough milk.

I can’t find a flattering and comfortable nursing bra; it seems to be one or the other.

BUT…

Boy, I love it so much.

The closeness to my precious baby.

The feeling of being their everything and their every meal.

The pride when I persevere through growth spurts, teething and leaps.

The middle of the night snuggles and early morning milky smiles.

The relief in knowing wherever we are, I have a way of comforting and feeding my baby.

AND…

We’re still going strong at 13 weeks old!

✨ 4 days exclusively tube fed
✨ 18 days exclusively pumping
✨ 8 days breastfeeding + formula top ups
✨ 68 days exclusively breastfeeding

It’s been a journey! 🙌🏻 Although I’ve breastfed all of my babies, this is the longest time I’ve exclusively breastfed and I’m proud of myself for sticking to it.

I couldn’t have done it without support from the amazing NICU nurses, my wonderful health visitor, my very supportive husband and my angel of a sister. The words “your baby IS getting enough” and regular weigh-ins were the crutches I needed to keep going! 🧡
